Privacy Policy
This policy covers two iPhone apps for WanderWall digital photo frames, made by Matthew Phipps: WanderWall – Photo Frame, for the frame's owner, and WanderWall Share, for family and friends the owner invites to send photos. The short version: the developer does not collect any of your data. The apps have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything they handle goes only to your own photo frame and to the cloud storage account that the frame's owner set up.
What the app handles and where it goes
| Information | Why the apps use it | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Photos you choose to upload | To show them on your frame | WanderWall – Photo Frame uploads them to the frame owner's cloud storage account. WanderWall Share sends them to the frame, which adds them to that account. The frame then downloads them |
| Frame pairing details (frame address and a sign-in token; in WanderWall Share, from an invite code) | To connect to frames you have paired | Stored only on your iPhone, in the iOS Keychain |
| Cloud storage sign-in for the frame (email and an app password), WanderWall – Photo Frame only | To upload photos to the frame's cloud storage | Provided by your frame; stored only on your iPhone, in the iOS Keychain |
| Your iPhone's device name | So the frame owner can see which phones are paired | Sent to the frame when you pair |
| App settings and small preview images | To remember your choices and load faster | Stored only on your iPhone |
The apps see only the photos you pick in the iOS photo picker; they do not read the rest of your photo library. The camera is used only to scan a frame's pairing or invite QR code, and nothing from the camera is saved or sent. The apps ask for local network access so they can find and talk to a frame on your home WiFi.
Who else is involved
- Your photo frame. It belongs to you or to the person who invited you. It keeps a list of paired phones and a log of pairing and security events. The developer has no access to it.
- Cloud storage account. Uploaded photos are stored in the cloud storage account the frame owner chose for the frame, under that provider's terms and privacy policy. The developer has no access to it.
- Secure remote connection. When you are away from home, the apps reach your frame through an encrypted (HTTPS) address the frame owner set up. The service that relays this connection cannot read your photos.
- Apple. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports with the developer. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
No data is sold, shared for advertising, or used to track you across apps or websites.
Keeping and deleting your information
Information on your iPhone stays until you remove it. Both apps work the same way:
- Unpair a frame to delete its pairing details and cloud sign-in from your phone and remove your phone from the frame's list.
- Settings → Clear All Data deletes everything the app has stored on your phone.
- Deleting the app removes the app's data. Some iOS Keychain items can remain after an app is deleted, so use Clear All Data first if you want everything gone.
Photos you uploaded stay on the frame and in the frame owner's cloud storage until they are deleted. The frame owner can delete any photo from the app or the frame, and can remove any paired phone or invited contributor. If you uploaded photos to someone else's frame and want them removed, ask the frame owner, or email us and we will help you reach them.
Children
The WanderWall apps are not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
